Therapy for Relationship Issues & Problems
Our lives are defined by quality of our relationships. We are ‘friends’, ‘partners’, ‘boyfriend / girlfriend’, ‘husband / wife’, ‘brother / sister’, ‘work colleagues’ … we don’t exist in a world alone but share that world with all those around us.
Whether intimate or platonic, personal or work, we have ‘relationships’ with all those we come into regular contact with. Being in relationship with ourselves and others can be one of the most challenging aspects of being human. While very few of us want to live in isolation and feel lonely, it can be really difficult to navigate the nuances of relationships.
It may be you have difficulties forming friendships or intimate relationships or that you are already in a relationship, but you may be struggling with problems that keep coming up. It’s very natural to have feelings of anger, jealousy, envy or loneliness, however sometimes these feelings can cause us or our partners to act out and problems arise that can be hard work and painful on both sides.
The problems can encompass feeling unheard, ignored, used, powerless or the problem could be with the way another person is behaving towards you or someone close to you, such as being unfaithful, being controlling, bullying or unsupportive, a breakdown in communication or understanding or any manner of other forms of behaviour that have an impact on you.
Therapy for relationship issues seeks to support you when you feel that something is not right within an important or significant relationship. We will look at what is going on for you, if there is a pattern you recognise and what issues might be affecting the relationship. We explore what the relationship means to you and what you can do to improve or handle the situation.
